The term made in China may now be considered “handled also by China” as reports show that in the war-torn Syria, a Hong Kong-based company has been handling majority of the internet bulk of the Middle Eastern country. As more telecommunications companies withdraw from Syria, PCCW Ltd has kept the nation connected to the internet, a crucial form of communication in the volatile state facing a serious political and military crisis.

According to Renesys Corp., a firm tracking the pathways connecting in and out of the Internet, the Chinese company has been currying much of the online communications load in Syria. This comes on the heels of Turk Telecom withdrawing services in the region, after the Turkish government protested the actions of Syria’s Regime. China, on the other hands, remains as one of the few international allies of the embattled nation.
